Information and Broadcasting Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw and External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar are scheduled to meet Ambassadors and Heads of Missions in India on March 13 to inform them about the Central government’s World Audio Visual and Entertainment Summit (WAVES) initiative.

“WAVES is a premier global event that brings together the entire media and entertainment sector. It aims to connect the domestic sector with the global market, and the global media and entertainment sector with the Indian market, fostering growth, collaborations, and innovations,” a senior official said. The WAVES summit is to be held at the Jio World Centre in Mumbai from May 1-4.

The organisers have invited leaders of the media and entertainment sector across the world to attend the summit, during which a round table discussion of industry leaders is to be held.

About a month ago, Prime Minister Narendra Modi had interacted with members of the WAVES Advisory Board, comprising 34 prominent personalities from the sector, for about two hours on various aspects of the initiative.
